कर्ण कर्ण वृथादृष्टे सूतपुत्रात्मसंस्तुत । अधर्मबुद्धे शृणु मे यत् त्वां वक्ष्यामि साम्प्रतम्
karṇa karṇa vṛthādṛṣṭe sūtaputrātmasaṁstuta | adharmabuddhe śṛṇu me yat tvāṁ vakṣyāmi sāmpratam ||
Sañjaya sprach: „O Karṇa, Karṇa — dein Blick ist eitel und fehlgeleitet. O Sohn eines Wagenlenkers, du bist einer, der sich selbst rühmt. O du, dessen Sinn sich dem Adharma zugewandt hat, höre nun, was ich dir jetzt sagen werde.“
