अस्तं महीधरश्रेष्ठं यियासति दिवाकर: । शृणुष्वैतच्च वाक््यं मे जयद्रथवर्ध प्रति,"क्योंकि सूर्य अब पर्वतश्रेष्ठ अस्ताचलपर जाना ही चाहते हैं। जयद्रथवधके विषयमें तुम मेरी यह बात ध्यानसे सुन लो
astaṁ mahīdharaśreṣṭhaṁ yiyāsati divākaraḥ | śṛṇuṣvaitac ca vākyaṁ me jayadrathavadhe prati ||
Sañjaya sprach: „Die Sonne geht nun unter, entschlossen, zum besten der Berge zu ziehen — zum westlichen Horizont. Darum höre aufmerksam meine Worte über die Tötung Jayadrathas.“
