एतेषां रक्षितारश्न ये स्यु: कस्याज्चिदापदि । अर्थवन्तो न चोत्सिक्ता ब्रह्मुण्या: सत्यवादिन:
eteṣāṁ rakṣitāraś ca ye syuḥ kasyāścid āpadi | arthavanto na cotsiktā brāhmaṇyāḥ satyavādinaḥ ||
Sañjaya sprach: „Diejenigen, die in jeder Not als Beschützer dieser Männer auftreten würden, sind Menschen von Gewicht — doch ohne Überheblichkeit — standhaft in brahmanischer Tugend und der Wahrhaftigkeit ergeben.“
संजय उवाच
True protectors are defined not merely by power or wealth, but by restraint and character: they have means (arthavantaḥ) without pride (na cotsiktāḥ), and their reliability rests on brahminical virtue and truthfulness (brāhmaṇyāḥ satyavādinaḥ).
Sañjaya is describing the kind of men who can serve as dependable guardians in a time of danger—emphasizing their capacity, humility, and moral credibility—within the larger war-reporting frame of the Droṇa Parva.
