राजन! पुरुषसिंह कुन्तीपुत्र अर्जुनके युद्धसे हट जानेपर यदि वे दो घड़ी भी मेरे सामने संग्राममें खड़े रहेंगे तो मैं आज सत्यधर्मपरायण राजा युधिष्ठिरको पकड़कर तुम्हारे वशमें ला दूँगा, इसमें संशय नहीं है ।। फाल्गुनस्य समीपे तु न हि शक्‍्यो युधिष्ठिर: । ग्रहीतुं समरे राजन सेन्द्रैरपि सुरासुरै:,राजन! अर्जुनके समीप तो समरभूमिमें इन्द्र आदि सम्पूर्ण देवता और असुर भी युधिष्ठिरको नहीं पकड़ सकते हैं

rājan! puruṣasiṃha kuntīputra arjunake yuddhase haṭa jānepara yadi ve do ghaṛī bhī mere sāmane saṃgrāmameṃ khaṛe rahenge to maiṃ āja satyadharmaparāyaṇa rājā yudhiṣṭhirako pakaṛakara tumhāre vaśameṃ lā dūṃgā, isameṃ saṃśaya nahīṃ hai. phālgunasya samīpe tu na hi śakyo yudhiṣṭhiraḥ | grahītuṃ samare rājan sendrair api surāsuraiḥ ||

Droṇa sprach: „O König, wenn Arjuna, Kuntīs Sohn—ein Löwe unter den Menschen—sich aus dem Kampf zurückzieht und sie mir auf dem Schlachtfeld auch nur für einen kurzen Augenblick standhalten, dann werde ich noch heute den König Yudhiṣṭhira, der der Wahrheit und dem Dharma ergeben ist, ergreifen und ihn unter deine Gewalt bringen; daran besteht kein Zweifel. Doch wenn Phālguna (Arjuna) in der Nähe ist, o König, kann Yudhiṣṭhira in der Schlacht nicht gefangen werden—nicht einmal von Göttern und Asuras vereint, selbst wenn Indra unter ihnen ist.“
