भीष्मरक्षण-उद्योगः, शिखण्डि-विवर्जनं, सर्वतोभद्र-व्यूहः

पूर्णायतविसृष्टेन सम्यक् प्रणिहितेन च । जन्नुदेशे समासाद्य विकर्ण समताडयत्,इसके बाद उसने धनुषको पूर्णरूपसे खींचकर उसपर उत्तम रीतिसे बाणोंका संधान करके विकर्णके गलेकी हँसलीमें गहरी चोट पहुँचायी
pūrṇāyatavisṛṣṭena samyak praṇihitena ca | jannudeśe samāsādya vikarṇaṃ samatāḍayat ||
Sañjaya sprach: Er spannte den Bogen bis zur vollen Auszugslänge und ließ, mit festem Willen, einen wohlgezielten Pfeil fahren; hart traf er Vikarṇa in der Gegend des Halses.
