Daiva–Puruṣakāra Discourse and the Elephant-Corps Engagement (भीमगजानीक-सम्भ्रान्ति)
चेदिमत्स्यकरूषाश्न॒ भीमसेनपदानुगा:
sañjaya uvāca | cedimatsyakarūṣāś ca bhīmasenapadānugāḥ | samare niṣādānāṃ ca teṣāṃ rājñāṃś ca jaghnire | tataḥ senā-dvayor ghoraṃ yuddham āsīd bhayāvaham ||
Sañjaya sprach: „Bhīmasenas Spur folgend, rückten die Kṣatriyas von Cedi, Matsya und Karūṣa auf dem Schlachtfeld vor und fielen über die Niṣādas und ihre Könige her. Da erhob sich zwischen den beiden Heeren ein überaus grässlicher, furchterregender Kampf—ein Krieg, getrieben von Schwung und Gefolgschaft, in dem kaum noch Raum für Zügelung blieb.“
