भारतामृतसर्वस्वगीताया मथितस्य च । सारमुद्धृत्य कृष्णेन अर्जुनस्य मुखे हुतम्
bhāratāmṛta-sarvasva-gītāyā mathitasya ca | sāram uddhṛtya kṛṣṇena arjunasya mukhe hutam ||
Vaiśampāyana sprach: Aus der Bhagavad Gītā—die als das eigentliche Wesen des nektargleichen Mahābhārata gilt—hat Kṛṣṇa, nachdem er ihren Sinn gleichsam „ausgequirlt“ und den konzentrierten Kern herausgezogen hatte, diese Essenz in Arjunas Mund gegossen; das heißt: durch Unterweisung pflanzte er sie unmittelbar in Arjunas inneres Vermögen ein, damit Arjuna in der moralischen Krise des Krieges Klarheit über seine Pflicht (Dharma) und Festigkeit des Geistes wiedergewinne.
