Transliteration

sañjaya uvāca | sañjayo 'haṃ mahārāja namas te bharatarṣabha | hato bhīṣmaḥ śāntanavo bharatānāṃ pitāmahaḥ ||

Translation

Sañjaya sprach: „O König, o Stier unter den Bharatas, sei gegrüßt. Ich bin Saṃjaya und stehe zu deinen Diensten. Bhīṣma — der Sohn Śāntanus, der Ahnvater der Bharatas — ist in der Schlacht erschlagen worden.“
