भीष्मपर्व — अध्याय ११०: पार्थभीमयोः प्रहारः तथा भीष्माभिमुखं संग्रामविस्तारः

Arjuna and Bhima’s pressure; escalation toward Bhishma

कृष्ण पश्य महात्मानं भीष्मं भीमपराक्रमम्‌ । गजं नलवनानीव विमृद्नन्तं बल॑ मम,“श्रीकृष्ण! देखिये, भयंकर पराक्रमी महात्मा भीष्म हमारी सेनाका उसी प्रकार विनाश कर रहे हैं, जैसे हाथी सरकंडोंके जंगलोंको रौंद डालते हैं

sañjaya uvāca | kṛṣṇa paśya mahātmānaṃ bhīṣmaṃ bhīmaparākramam | gajaṃ nalavanānīva vimṛdnantaṃ balaṃ mama ||

Sañjaya sprach: „O Krishna, sieh Bhīṣma, den Großgesinnten, von furchtbarer Kraft. Er zermalmt meine Heere wie ein Elefant Dickichte von Schilf niedertritt.“
