Educational Q&A

Even in a context driven by ambition and conflict, royal conduct is expected to honor hierarchy and elders; approaching Bhīṣma with proper protocol reflects the ethical ideal that power should still submit to wisdom and seniority.

The king arrives at Bhīṣma’s residence, dismounts from his horse, and goes to Bhīṣma—preparing to engage him respectfully, typically to seek counsel, support, or to formalize a decision in the unfolding war narrative.
