Completion of the Aśvamedha

वैशम्पायन उवाच यज्ञस्य विधिमग्र्यं वै फलं चापि नराधिप । गदत: शृणु मे राजन्‌ यथावदिह भारत,वैशम्पायनजीने कहा--नरेश्वर! भरतनन्दन! मैं यज्ञकी श्रेष्ठ विधि और फलका यहाँ यथावत्‌ वर्णन करता हूँ, तुम मेरा कथन सुनो

Vaiśampāyana uvāca: yajñasya vidhim agryaṃ vai phalaṃ cāpi narādhipa | gadataḥ śṛṇu me rājan yathāvad iha bhārata ||

Vaiśampāyana sprach: „O Herr der Menschen, o König aus dem Geschlecht der Bhāratas, höre, wie ich rede. Hier will ich in rechter Ordnung das vorzüglichste Verfahren des Opfers und seine Früchte darlegen, damit du erkennst, wie gerechtes Handeln die ihm gebührende Wirkung hervorbringt.“
