Book 14, Chapter 89
दुःशलायाश्च त॑ पौत्रं बालकं॑ भरतर्षभ । स्वराज्ये5थ पितुर्धीमान् स्वसु: प्रीत्या न्न्यवेशयत्
Vaiśampāyana uvāca | Duḥśalāyāś ca tau pautraṃ bālakaṃ bharatarṣabha | svarājye 'tha pitur dhīmān svasuḥ prītyā nyaveśayat ||
Vaiśampāyana sprach: O Stier unter den Bhāratas, der weise Yudhiṣṭhira, um seine Schwester Duḥśalā zu erfreuen, ließ ihren jungen Enkel im Reich seines eigenen Vaters weihen und auf den Thron setzen.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
A righteous king stabilizes society by honoring legitimate succession and by healing family bonds; dharma after war includes restoration, compassion, and respect for kin, not merely victory.
Yudhiṣṭhira, acting wisely, appoints Duḥśalā’s young grandson to his father’s kingdom, specifically to please and honor his sister, thereby restoring order and easing familial grief after the conflict.
