Babhruvāhana’s Lament and Appeal for Expiation (प्रायश्चित्त-याचना)
सख्यं चैतत् कृतं धात्रा शश्वदव्ययमेव तु । सख्यं समभिजानीहि सत्यं सड्भतमस्तु ते,“विधाताने पति और पत्नीकी मित्रता सदा रहनेवाली और अटूट बनायी है। (तुम्हारा भी इनके साथ वही सम्बन्ध है।) इस सख्यभावके महत्त्वको समझो और ऐसा उपाय करो जिससे तुम्हारी इनके साथ की हुई मैत्री सत्य एवं सार्थक हो
sakhyaṃ caitat kṛtaṃ dhātrā śaśvadavyayameva tu | sakhyaṃ samabhijānīhi satyaṃ saḍbhatam astu te ||
Vaiśampāyana sprach: „Dieses Band der Freundschaft ist vom Schöpfer verordnet—ewig und wahrhaft unzerbrechlich. Darum erkenne und ehre diese Freundschaft; lass deine Beziehung zu ihnen wahr sein und in Erfüllung gehen.“
