कच्चिच्छौरे त्वया गत्वा कुरुपाण्डवसझ तत्‌ | कृतं॑ सौश्रात्रमचलं तन्मे व्याख्यातुमहसि,'शूरनन्दन! क्‍या तुम कौरवों और पाण्डवोंके घर जाकर उनमें अविचल भ्रातृभाव स्थापित कर आये? यह बात मुझे विस्तारके साथ बताओ

kaccic chauri tvayā gatvā kuru-pāṇḍava-saṅghaṁ tat | kṛtaṁ sauśrātram acalaṁ tan me vyākhyātum arhasi ||

Vaiśampāyana sprach: „O Śauri, nachdem du zu jener Versammlung der Kurus und der Pāṇḍavas gegangen bist, ist es dir gelungen, unter ihnen ein unerschütterliches Band der Brüderlichkeit zu begründen? Erkläre mir dies ausführlich.“
