कर्मणा तद् विधत्स्वेह येन शुध्यति मे मन: । शत्रुदमन श्रीकृष्ण! अब जिस कर्मके द्वारा मुझे अपने इस क्रूरतापूर्ण पापसे छुटकारा मिले तथा जिससे मेरा चित्त शुद्ध हो, वही कीजिये || १३ $ ।। तमेवं वादिनं पार्थ व्यास: प्रोवाच धर्मवित्,कुन्तीनन्दन युधिष्ठिरको ऐसी बातें करते देख धर्मके तत्त्वको जाननेवाले महातेजस्वी व्यासजीने उन्हें सान्त्वना देते हुए यह शुभ एवं सार्थक वचन कहा--“तात! तुम्हारी बुद्धि अभी शुद्ध नहीं हुई है। तुम पुनः बालकोचित अविवेकके कारण मोहमें पड़ गये

karmaṇā tad vidhatsveha yena śudhyati me manaḥ |
śatrudamana śrīkṛṣṇa! adya yasmin karmaṇā mama asmin krūratāpūrṇāt pāpāt mucyeya, yena ca me cittaṃ śudhyet, tad eva kuru ||
(tam evaṃ vādinaṃ pārthaṃ vyāsaḥ provāca dharmavit |
kuntīnandana yudhiṣṭhiraṃ tathā vadantaṃ dṛṣṭvā dharmatattvavid mahātejā vyāsaḥ sāntvayitvā idaṃ śubhaṃ sārthakaṃ vacanam uvāca— “tāta! tava buddhiḥ adhunāpi na śuddhā; punar bālako citāvivekāt mohena paryavasitaḥ …”)
Yudhiṣṭhira sprach: „Hier und jetzt verordne mir die Tat, durch die mein Geist gereinigt werde. O Śrī Kṛṣṇa, Bezwinger der Feinde — vollbringe eben jene Handlung, durch die ich von dieser grausamen Sünde befreit werde und durch die mein Herz rein wird.“ Als er so sprach, wandte sich Vyāsa — Kenner des Dharma — an den Sohn der Pṛthā. Da er sah, wie Yudhiṣṭhira, Kuntīs Sohn, so redete, tröstete ihn der strahlende Vyāsa und sprach diese glückverheißenden, sinnreichen Worte: „Mein Kind, dein Verständnis ist noch nicht geläutert; abermals bist du durch kindlichen Mangel an Unterscheidung in Verblendung gefallen …“
