चेदयश्वैव मत्स्याश्व दृष्टपूर्वास्तथैव न: । केवल वृष्णिचक्रं च वासुदेवपरिग्रहात्‌,“हमारे सम्बन्धी चेदि और मत्स्यदेशके लोग भी जैसे पहले देखे गये थे, वैसे ही अब नहीं रहे। केवल भगवान्‌ श्रीकृष्णके आश्रयसे वृष्णिवंशी वीरोंका समुदाय अबतक सुरक्षित है

cedayaś caiva matsyāś ca dṛṣṭapūrvās tathaiva naḥ | kevalaṁ vṛṣṇicakraṁ ca vāsudevaparigrahāt ||

Vaiśampāyana sprach: „Unsere Verwandten — die Cedis und das Volk von Matsya — sind nicht mehr wie einst, wie wir sie früher gesehen haben. Nur der Kreis der Vṛṣṇi-Helden ist bis jetzt unversehrt geblieben, getragen von ihrer Zuflucht zu Vāsudeva (Kṛṣṇa).“
