Pitṛ-śrāddha-haviḥ-phala-nirdeśa
Offerings for Ancestors and Their Stated Results
सा वल्विना वार्यमाणा देवैरपि सरिद्वरा । समुत्ससर्ज तं॑ गर्भ मेरौ गिरिवरे तदा,देवताओं तथा अग्निके मना करनेपर भी सरिताओंमें श्रेष्ठ गंगाने उस गर्भको गिरिराज मेरुके शिखरपर छोड़ दिया
sā valvinā vāryamāṇā devair api saridvarā | samutsasarja taṁ garbhaṁ merau girivare tadā ||
Bhīṣma sagte: Obwohl selbst die Götter sie zurückzuhalten suchten, ließ Gaṅgā, die Vornehmste der Flüsse, jenen Embryo frei; und damals warf sie ihn auf den Meru, den besten der Berge.
