Chapter 85: Suvarṇasya Janma ca Pradāna-Phalam

The Origin of Gold and the Merit of Gifting

गाव ऊचु: नावमन्यामहे देवि न त्वां परिभवामहे । अध्रुवा चलचित्तासि ततत्त्वां वर्जयामहे,गौओंने कहा--देवि! हम तुम्हारा अपमान या अनादर नहीं करतीं। केवल तुम्हारा त्याग कर रही हैं। वह भी इसलिये कि तुम्हारा चित्त चंचल है। तुम कहीं भी स्थिर होकर नहीं रहती

gāva ūcuḥ—nāvamanyāmahe devi na tvāṃ paribhavāmahe | adhruvā calacittāsi tat tvāṃ varjayāmahe ||

Die Kühe sprachen: „O Göttin, wir verachten dich nicht und wollen dich nicht entehren. Doch wir verlassen dich, weil du unbeständig und wankelmütig bist; an keinem Ort bleibst du standhaft.“
