Educational Q&A

Bhīṣma links wisdom and righteous living with a blessed posthumous state: the truly discerning person attains joyful residence among the gods, symbolized by dwelling with Indra.

In Bhīṣma’s instruction to the king (Yudhiṣṭhira) in the Anuśāsana Parva, he describes the fate of the virtuous and wise, stating that such a person lives happily in Indra’s company.
