Educational Q&A

The verse teaches that timely charity—specifically donating a valued food-grain/pulse during the Pūrvābhādrapadā nakṣatra—yields merit that ripens as posthumous well-being, symbolized by abundance of food and fruits.

Nārada is instructing about the fruits of specific acts of dāna (gift-giving) performed under particular astral conditions, describing the beneficial result in the next world for the donor.
