Cyavana Explains His Tests; Kuśika Seeks Brāhmaṇya for His Line
na prabodhyo ’smi saṃsupta ity uvācātha bhārgavaḥ | saṃvāhitavyau me pādau jāgṛtavyaṃ ca te ’niśam ||
The verse highlights disciplined service (sevā) and obedience: one must carry out a rightful instruction with steadiness—maintaining vigilance and self-control—rather than prioritizing personal ease.
Bhīṣma narrates that the Bhārgava (Paraśurāma) instructs attendants not to wake him while he sleeps, to keep pressing his feet, and to stay awake continuously—setting a strict regimen of service and watchfulness.
