Ānṛśaṃsya–Bhakti: Śukaḥ Śakreṇa Parīkṣitaḥ
Compassion and Devotion—The Parrot Tested by Indra
तस्मिन् वक्षे तथाभूते कोटरेषु चिरोषित: । न जहाति शुको वासं तस्य भक्त्या वनस्पते:
tasmin vakṣe tathābhūte koṭareṣu ciroṣitaḥ | na jahāti śuko vāsaṃ tasya bhaktyā vanaspateḥ ||
Bhīṣma sprach: Als der Baum in einen solchen Zustand geraten war, verließ ein Papagei, der lange in seinen Höhlungen gewohnt hatte, seine Heimstatt nicht. Aus Hingabe und Anhänglichkeit an diesen Baum blieb der Vogel dort, selbst während er verdorrte—ein Sinnbild standhafter Treue und Dankbarkeit, die ihre Stütze in Zeiten des Niedergangs nicht verlassen.
