उनके इस प्रकार पूछनेपर शुकने मस्तक नवाकर उन्हें प्रणाम किया और कहा --देवराज! आपका स्वागत है। मैंने तपस्थाके बलसे आपको पहचान लिया है! ।।

Transliteration

tato daśaśatākṣeṇa sādhu sādhv iti bhāṣitam | aho vijñānam ity evaṁ manasā pūjitas tataḥ ||

Translation

Auf diese Frage neigte Śuka das Haupt, erwies ihm Ehrerbietung und sprach: „O König der Götter, sei willkommen. Durch die Kraft meiner Askese habe ich dich erkannt.“ Als Indra, der Tausendäugige, dies hörte, rief er: „Wohl gesprochen, wohl gesprochen!“, und dachte bei sich: „Ah, welch erstaunliche Erkenntnis!“ So ehrte er ihn, ohne es nach außen zu zeigen, in seinem Innern.
