Adhyāya 39 — Yudhiṣṭhira’s inquiry on attachment (saṅga) and relational restraint

श्रुत्वा च नावजानामि नापराध्यामि कर्हिचित् । अभ्यर्च्यभ्यनुपृच्छामि पादौ गृह्नामि धीमताम्,सुनकर उनके वचनोंकी अवहेलना नहीं करता। कभी उनका अपराध नहीं करता। उनकी पूजा करके कुशल पूछता हूँ और बुद्धिमान ब्राह्मणोंके पाँव पकड़ता हूँ
Transliteration
śrutvā ca nāvajānāmi nāparādhyāmi karhicit | abhyarcyābhyānupṛcchāmi pādau gṛhṇāmi dhīmatām ||
Translation
Nachdem ich zugehört habe, geringschätze ich sie nicht und beleidige sie niemals. Nachdem ich sie geehrt habe, erkundige ich mich nach ihrem Wohlergehen und umfasse die Füße der Weisen—besonders der klar unterscheidenden Brāhmaṇas—und mache Ehrfurcht und Selbstzucht zu meiner Richtschnur.
