Śakra–Śambara Saṃvāda: Brāhmaṇa-sevā, Anasūyā, and Vāg-bala (शक्रशम्बरसंवादः)

ब्राह्मणा यं प्रशंसन्ति पुरुष: स प्रवर्धते । ब्राह्मणैर्य: पराकृष्ट: पराभूयात्‌ क्षणाद्धि सः,ब्राह्मण जिसकी प्रशंसा करते हैं; उस पुरुषका अभ्युदय होता है और जिसको वे शाप देते हैं; उसका एक क्षणमें पराभव हो जाता है

brāhmaṇā yaṁ praśaṁsanti puruṣaḥ sa pravardhate | brāhmaṇair yaḥ parākṛṣṭaḥ parābhūyāt kṣaṇād dhi saḥ ||

Bhishma sprach: „Der Mann, den die Brahmanen preisen, steigt auf und gedeiht. Doch wer von den Brahmanen getadelt und durch ihre Verurteilung herabgezogen wird, erleidet Niederlage—wahrlich, in einem Augenblick.“
