यदि यत्नो भवेन्मर्त्य: स सर्व फलमाप्नुयात् नालभ्यं चोपलभ्येत नृणां भरतसत्तम
yadi yatno bhaven martyaḥ sa sarva-phalam āpnuyāt | nālabhyaṃ copalabhyeta nṛṇāṃ bharata-sattama || bharata-bhūṣaṇa |
Yudhiṣṭhira sprach: „Wäre bloß menschliche Anstrengung stets entscheidend, so würde der Mensch unweigerlich jede Frucht erlangen. Doch, o Bester der Bharatas, was durch die Macht des Schicksals für einen Menschen unerreichbar ist, wird auch durch härtestes Bemühen nicht erreichbar.“
