Educational Q&A

The verse presents Śiva as embodying complementary cosmic principles—Agni (fiery, transformative energy) and Soma (cooling, sustaining nectar)—and highlights his ascetic ideal through brahmacarya, suggesting that true lordship integrates power with restraint and disciplined purity.

Vāyu is describing the nature of Mahādeva/Śiva, explaining his composite constitution (half Agni, half Soma) and noting that one of his embodiments remains established in brahmacarya, thereby characterizing Śiva’s forms and attributes in a doctrinal praise-context.
