gurur gurutamo dhāma satyaḥ satyaparākramaḥ | nimiṣo'nimiṣaḥ sragvī vācaspatir udāradhīḥ ||
Bhīṣma sprach: Er ist der Guru — der höchste Lehrmeister; der erhabenste unter den Lehrern; die Wohnstatt und Zuflucht des Alls. Er ist die Wahrheit selbst, deren Kraft niemals fehlgeht. Er ist der, dessen Augen im yogischen Schlummer geschlossen sind, und zugleich der Unblinzelnde, der die Gestalt des Fisches annimmt. Er trägt die Siegesgirlande, und als Herr der Rede und des Wissens besitzt er einen edlen, alles erhellenden Geist, der die Wirklichkeiten offenbar macht.
