All categories of existence—spiritual authorities (ṛṣis), ancestral powers (pitṛs), gods (devas), and the material constituents (mahābhūtas, dhātus), including both living and non-living—share a single origin in Nārāyaṇa. This supports a dharmic outlook of reverence, interconnectedness, and devotion.
In the Anuśāsana Parva’s instruction section, Bhīṣma continues advising Yudhiṣṭhira on righteous conduct by articulating a theological foundation: the cosmos and its orders arise from Nārāyaṇa, thereby framing ethical life as aligned with that supreme source.
