Educational Q&A

The core teaching is that dharmic conduct includes avoiding harshness (especially in speech and behavior) and avoiding betrayal or harm to others; cultivating self-restraint and equal regard for all beings leads to meritorious results, described here as attaining heaven.

In Anuśāsana Parva’s instruction-focused setting, Śrī Maheśvara speaks a moral injunction, praising those who practice restraint, impartiality toward all beings, and loyalty/non-treachery, and declaring their auspicious destiny.
