Kāla (Right Time), Effort, and the Ethics of Giving — कालः, प्रयत्नः, दानधर्मश्च

ब्राह्मण्यं देवि सम्प्राप्य रक्षितव्यं यतात्मना । योनिप्रतिग्रहादानै: कर्मभिश्न शुचिस्मिते

brāhmaṇyaṁ devi samprāpya rakṣitavyaṁ yatātmanā | yonipratigrahadānaiḥ karmabhiś ca śucismite ||

Maheshvara sprach: „O Göttin, du rein Lächelnde: Hat jemand den Stand und die Würde des Brahmanentums erlangt, so muss er ihn durch Selbstbeherrschung sorgsam schützen. Mit gezügeltem Geist und Sinnen bewahre er diesen Rang durch Reinheit von Herkunft und Wandel, durch Reinheit im Annehmen von Gaben, durch Reinheit im Geben und durch rechtschaffene Taten.“
