प्रवृत्तिलक्षणो धर्मो गृहस्थेषु विधीयते । तमहं वर्तयिष्यामि सर्वभूतहितं शुभम्‌,प्रवृत्तिरूप धर्मका विधान गृहस्थोंके लिये किया गया है। वह सब प्राणियोंका हितकारी और शुभ है। अब मैं उसीका वर्णन करता हूँ

pravṛttilakṣaṇo dharmo gṛhasthēṣu vidhīyate | tam ahaṁ vartayiṣyāmi sarvabhūtahitaṁ śubham ||

Maheshvara sprach: „Das Dharma, das durch tätiges Wirken in den weltlichen Pflichten gekennzeichnet ist, ist den Hausvätern auferlegt. Dieses Dharma ist glückverheißend und allen Wesen heilsam; nun will ich es darlegen.“
