रहस्यमद्भुतं चापि पृष्टा: सम गगनेचर । एतदेव प्रशंसन्ति देवाश्न मुन॒यस्तथा
rahasyam adbhutaṃ cāpi pṛṣṭāḥ sma gagane-cara | etad eva praśaṃsanti devāś ca munayas tathā ||
Der himmlische Bote sprach: „O du, der den Himmel durchstreift, wahrlich sind wir nach einer wunderbaren und geheimen Sache gefragt worden. Gerade diese Lehre wird von den Göttern und ebenso von den Weisen gepriesen.“ Im Zusammenhang rahmt der Vers die Frage als tiefes dharmisches Geheimnis—von höheren Autoritäten gebilligt—und mahnt so zur Ehrfurcht vor den vorgeschriebenen Ahnenriten und zur ethischen Pflicht, die Vorfahren zu ehren.
