Umā’s Inquiry and the Manifestation of the Third Eye
Bhīṣma presents a discipline of speech and social behavior: avoid slander and malicious talk, do not cultivate such thoughts, do not loiter at others’ doors (a sign of meddling or dependence), and practice restraint by not speaking excessively.
In the Anuśāsana Parva’s instruction section, Bhīṣma continues giving Yudhiṣṭhira ethical guidance, here describing personal vows/standards of conduct that uphold dharma through purity of intention and controlled speech.
