व्यास उवाच यद्‌ यदिच्छसि मैत्रेय यावद्‌ यावद्‌ यथा यथा । ब्रृहि तत्त्वं महाप्राज्ञ शुश्रेषे वचनं तव,व्यासजीने कहा--महा प्राज्ञ मैत्रेय! तुम जो-जो, जितनी-जितनी और जैसी-जैसी बातें कहना चाहो, कहो। मैं तुम्हारी बातें सुनूँगा

vyāsa uvāca | yad yad icchasi maitreya yāvad yāvad yathā yathā | brūhi tattvaṃ mahāprājña śuśrūṣe vacanaṃ tava ||

Vyāsa sprach: „Maitreya, o Hochweiser, sprich, was immer du sagen willst — so viel du willst und auf welche Weise du willst. Sage die Wahrheit der Sache; ich bin bereit, deine Worte zu hören.“
