Sāma (Sāntva) and Dāna: The Brāhmaṇa’s Conciliatory Release from a Rākṣasa

यदेव ददत: पुण्यं तदेव प्रतिगृह्नतः । न होकचक्रं वर्तेत इत्येवमृषयों विदु:

yad eva dadataḥ puṇyaṃ tad eva pratigṛhṇataḥ | na hokacakraṃ varteta ity evam ṛṣayo viduḥ ||

Maitreya sprach: „Dasselbe Verdienst, das dem Gebenden zufällt, erlangt in gleicher Weise auch der Empfangende (wenn er recht empfängt). So wissen es die Weisen: Anders würde das Rad gegenseitiger Stütze in der Welt nicht laufen.“
