भीष्म उवाच अत्राप्युदाहरन्तीममितिहासं पुरातनम् । मैत्रेयस्य च संवाद कृष्णद्वैयायनस्थ च,भीष्मजीने कहा--राजन! इस विषयमें श्रीकृष्णद्वैयायन व्यास और मैत्रेयके संवादरूप इस प्राचीन इतिहासका उदाहरण दिया जाता है
bhīṣma uvāca | atrāpy udāharantīmam itihāsaṁ purātanam | maitreyaśya ca saṁvādaṁ kṛṣṇadvaipāyanasya ca ||
Bhīṣma sprach: „Auch hierzu, o König, wird ein altes Beispiel angeführt: ein uraltes Überlieferungsstück in Gestalt eines Gesprächs zwischen Maitreya und Kṛṣṇa Dvaipāyana (Vyāsa).“
