अहिंसा-आत्मौपम्य-उपदेशः | Instruction on Ahiṃsā and Self-Comparison Ethics

भरण्यां तु शिरो विद्यात्‌ केशाना्द्रां नराधिप । समाप्ते तु घृतं दद्याद्‌ ब्राह्मणे वेदपारगे

bharaṇyāṃ tu śiro vidyāt keśānārdraṃ narādhipa | samāpte tu ghṛtaṃ dadyād brāhmaṇe vedapārage ||

Bhīṣma sprach: „O König, Bharaṇī sei als das ‘Haupt’ zu erkennen und Ārdrā als das ‘Haar’ (der kosmischen Gestalt). Hat man so die Nakṣatras den Gliedern zugeordnet und sie mit ihren jeweiligen Mantras verehrt—indem man täglich japa und homa vollzieht—so soll man, wenn die Observanz am Vollmond vollendet ist, einem in den Veden vollkommen bewanderten Brāhmaṇa Ghee als Gabe spenden.“
