उपदेशदोषप्रसङ्गः (Upadeśa-doṣa-prasaṅgaḥ) — The Risk of Misapplied Counsel

कुलपतिरुवाच न शक्‍्यमिह शूद्रेण लिड्गमाश्रित्य वर्तितुम्‌ । आस्यतां यदि ते बुद्धि: शुश्रूषानिरतो भव,कुलपतिने कहा--इस आश्रममें कोई शूद्र संन्यासका चिह्न धारण करके नहीं रह सकता। यदि तुम्हारा विचार यहाँ रहनेका हो तो यों ही रहो और साधु-महात्माओंकी सेवा करो। सेवासे ही तुम उत्तम लोक प्राप्त कर लोगे, इसमें संशय नहीं है

Transliteration

kulapatir uvāca na śakyam iha śūdreṇa liṅgam āśritya vartitum | āsyatāṃ yadi te buddhiḥ śuśrūṣā-nirato bhava |

Translation

Der Vorsteher der Einsiedelei sprach: «In diesem Āśrama kann ein Śūdra nicht bleiben, indem er die äußeren Kennzeichen der Entsagung annimmt. Wenn du hier bleiben willst, so bleibe ohne solchen Schein und widme dich dem Dienst an den Weisen und Heiligen. Durch den Dienst allein wirst du eine vortreffliche Welt erlangen—daran besteht kein Zweifel.»
