Ādi-parva, Adhyāya 73: Devayānī–Śarmiṣṭhā Dispute, Confinement in the Well, and Yayāti’s Rescue

ततः प्रक्षाल्य पादौ सा विश्रान्तं मुनिमब्रवीत्‌ । विनिधाय ततो भार संनिधाय फलानि च,तदनन्तर शकुन्तलाने उनके लाये हुए फलके भारको लेकर यथास्थान रख दिया। फिर उनके दोनों पैर धोये तथा जब वे भोजन और विश्राम कर चुके, तब वह मुनिसे इस प्रकार बोली

tataḥ prakṣālya pādau sā viśrāntaṁ munim abravīt | vinidhāya tato bhāraṁ sannidhāya phalāni ca ||

Dann wusch sie ihm die Füße. Nachdem der Weise ausgeruht hatte, wandte sie sich an ihn. Sie nahm die Last der Früchte, die er gebracht hatte, stellte sie an den rechten Ort und ordnete die Früchte in der Nähe—so erfüllte sie mit Sorgfalt und Ehrfurcht die Pflichten der Gastfreundschaft gegenüber dem asketischen Gast.
