Duḥṣanta–Śakuntalā: Gandharva Marriage and Succession Condition
सेनापति: सुषेणश्न॒ कुण्डोदरमहोदरौ । चित्रबाहुश्नित्रवर्मा सुवर्मा दुर्विरोचन:
senāpatiḥ suṣeṇaś ca kuṇḍodara-mahodarau | citrabāhuś citravarmā suvarmā durvirocanaḥ ||
Vaiśampāyana sprach: „Unter ihnen waren der Heerführer Suṣeṇa und die beiden — Kuṇḍodara und Mahodara; ferner Citrabāhu, Citravarmā, Suvarmā und Durvirocana.“
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse is primarily descriptive rather than didactic: by naming commanders and warriors, it highlights the importance of recognized leadership and ordered organization in a royal or martial enterprise, where responsibility is tied to identifiable persons.
Vaiśampāyana continues a roster-like enumeration of prominent fighters, mentioning a senāpati (commander) and several named warriors as part of a larger listing of those present in the host.
