सत्यवत्युवाच विद्धि मां भगवन्‌ कनन्‍्यां सदा पितृवशानुगाम्‌,सत्यवतीने कहा--भगवन्‌! आपको मालूम होना चाहिये कि मैं सदा अपने पिताके अधीन रहनेवाली कुमारी कन्या हूँ

satyavaty uvāca—viddhi māṃ bhagavan kanyāṃ sadā pitṛvaśānugām |

Satyavatī sprach: „O ehrwürdiger Herr, wisset dies von mir: Ich bin eine unvermählte Jungfrau, die stets in Gehorsam unter der Autorität ihres Vaters gelebt hat.“
