अग्ने मा त्वं प्रवर्धिष्ठा: कच्चिन्नो न दिधक्षसि । असौ हि राशि: सुमहान्‌ समिद्धस्तव सर्पति,'“अग्ने! आप इस प्रकार न बढ़ें। आप हमलोगोंको जलाकर भस्म तो नहीं कर डालना चाहते हैं? देखिये, वह आपका महान, प्रज्वलित तेज:पुंज इधर ही फैलता आ रहा है"

agne mā tvaṁ pravardhiṣṭhāḥ kaccin no na didhakṣasi | asau hi rāśiḥ sumahān samiddhas tava sarpati ||

„O Agni, lodere nicht noch weiter auf! Willst du uns etwa zu Asche verbrennen? Sieh: deine gewaltige, voll entfachte Flammenmasse breitet sich bereits auf uns zu aus.“
