Arjuna’s Pilgrimage and the Maṇalūra Alliance
जितारयो महाप्रज्ञा: सत्यधर्मपरायणा: । मुर्दे परमिकां प्राप्तास्तत्रोषु: पाण्डुनन्दना:,वे सभी शत्रुओंपर विजय पा चुके थे, सभी महाबुद्धिमान् थे। सबने सत्यधर्मका आश्रय ले रखा था। इस प्रकार वे पाण्डव वहाँ बड़े आनन्दके साथ रहते थे
jitārayo mahāprajñāḥ satyadharmaparāyaṇāḥ | mūrdhe paramikāṁ prāptās tatroṣuḥ pāṇḍunandanāḥ ||
Nachdem sie ihre Feinde bezwungen hatten, erreichten die Söhne Pāṇḍus — von großer Klugheit und der Wahrheit wie dem Dharma ergeben — die höchste Würde; und dort wohnten sie in Zufriedenheit, gefestigt in rechtschaffener Lebensführung nach ihren Siegen.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse links true eminence to ethical foundations: victory and high status are portrayed as meaningful when grounded in satya (truthfulness) and dharma (righteous duty). Wisdom and moral commitment are presented as the proper supports of power and prosperity.
Vaiśampāyana describes the Pāṇḍavas as having overcome their enemies and reached a position of preeminence; established in truth and dharma, they live there in satisfaction and stability after their successes.
