एकराज्यावेकगृहावेकशय्यासनाशनौ । तिलोत्तमायास्तौ हेतोरन्योन्यमभिजषध्नतु:,उनका एक ही राज्य था और एक ही घर। वे एक ही शय्यापर सोते, एक ही आसनपर बैठते और एक साथ ही भोजन करते थे। इस प्रकार आपसमें अटूट प्रेम होनेपर भी तिलोत्तमा अप्सराके लिये लड़कर उन्होंने एक-दूसरेको मार डाला
ekarājyāvekagṛhāvekśayyāsanāśanau | tilottamāyās tau hetor anyonyam abhijaṣadhnatuḥ ||
Sie teilten ein einziges Reich und ein einziges Haus. Sie schliefen auf demselben Lager, saßen auf demselben Sitz und aßen gemeinsam. Und doch gerieten sie, trotz so untrennbarer Zuneigung, um der Apsaras Tilottamā willen in Rivalität und erschlugen einander.
