Sunda and Upasunda: Austerities and the Boon
भूय एव तु भीष्मश्च द्रोणो विदुर एव च । युवां च कुरुतं बुद्धि भवेद् या न: सुखोदया,“परंतु मेरा विचार है कि भीष्म, द्रोण, विदुर और तुम दोनों एक साथ बैठकर पुनः विचार कर लो तथा कोई ऐसी बात सोच निकालो, जो भविष्यमें भी हमें सुख देनेवाली हो”
bhūya eva tu bhīṣmaś ca droṇo vidura eva ca | yuvāṃ ca kurutaṃ buddhiṃ bhaved yā naḥ sukhodayā ||
Vaiśampāyana sprach: „Doch wiederum sollen Bhīṣma, Droṇa und Vidura — und ihr beiden ebenso — sich zusammensetzen und abermals beraten und einen Weg finden, der uns künftig Wohlergehen und Glück bringt.“
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Important decisions should be made through renewed, collective deliberation with elders and dharma-minded counsellors, aiming not at short-term gain but at lasting welfare (sukhodaya) for all concerned.
The narrator reports a call for the principal Kuru elders—Bhīṣma, Droṇa, and Vidura—along with two addressed persons, to reconvene and rethink their plan so that the outcome will secure future happiness and stability.
