कर्णस्य मन्त्रः — Duryodhana-प्रति नीति-विचारः

Karna’s Counsel on Strategy toward the Pāṇḍavas

एष न: समयो राजन्‌ रत्नस्यथ सह भोजनम्‌ | न च तं हातुमिच्छाम: समयं राजसत्तम,महाराज! हम लोगोंमें यह शर्त हो चुकी है कि रत्नको हम सब लोग बाँटकर एक साथ उपभोग करेंगे। नृपशिरोमणे! हम अपनी उस (पुरानी) शर्तको छोड़ना या तोड़ना नहीं चाहते

yudhiṣṭhira uvāca |

eṣa naḥ samayo rājan ratnasya atha saha bhojanam |

na ca taṃ hātum icchāmaḥ samayaṃ rājasattama ||

Yudhiṣṭhira sprach: «O König, dies ist unser Abkommen über das Kleinod: Wir wollen es teilen und gemeinsam genießen. Und, o bester der Könige, wir wünschen nicht, dieses Gelübde aufzugeben oder zu brechen.»
