Karna’s Counsel on Strategy toward the Pāṇḍavas
The verse emphasizes vidhivat conduct—acting according to proper ritual and social order—while also highlighting a king’s responsibility to authorize marriage in a way that preserves dharma and political-family harmony.
King Dupada addresses the victorious hero and offers two options: he may marry Dupada’s daughter himself through the formal hand-taking rite, or he may designate one of his brothers as the groom and thereby authorize Kṛṣṇā’s marriage accordingly.
