Ādi Parva, Adhyāya 193 — Hastināpura Mantra: Duryodhana’s Proposals to Divide the Pāṇḍavas
फलानि माल्यानि च संस्कृतानि वर्माणि चर्माणि तथा55सनानि । गाश्चैव राजन्नथ चैव रज्जू- बीजानि चान्यानि कृषीनिमित्तम्,राजन! (सब प्रकारके) फल, सुन्दर ढंगसे बनायी हुई मालाएँ, कवच, ढाल, आसन, गौएँ रस्सियाँ, बीज एवं खेतीके अन्य सामान तथा अन्य कारीगरियोंके सब सामान पूर्णरूपसे वहाँ संगृूहीत किये गये थे। इसके सिवा, खेलके लिये जो आवश्यक वस्तुएँ होती हैं, उन सबको राजा ट्रुपदने वहाँ जुटाकर रखा था
vaiśampāyana uvāca |
phalāni mālyāni ca saṃskṛtāni varmāṇi carmāṇi tathāsanāni |
gāś caiva rājan atha caiva rajjū-bījāni cānyāni kṛṣinimittam ||
Vaiśampāyana sprach: „O König, dort waren Früchte und wohlbereitete Girlanden zusammengetragen, Panzerhemden und lederne Schilde, ebenso Sitze. Auch Kühe, Seile, mancherlei Samen und andere für die Landwirtschaft bestimmte Erfordernisse waren dort versammelt.“
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse underscores dharmic responsibility through preparedness: a well-run realm or household secures protection (armor, shields) while also ensuring sustenance and continuity (cattle, seeds, farming supplies). Prosperity is shown as organized, practical, and ethically grounded stewardship.
The narrator lists the various goods that had been assembled—fruits, garlands, protective gear, seating, cattle, ropes, seeds, and other farming necessities—indicating that the place/event being described was carefully stocked with both ceremonial and practical supplies.
