द्रौपदी-स्वयंवर-प्रारम्भः
Commencement of Draupadī’s Svayaṃvara
हंसि राक्षसवद् यस्माद् राजापसद तापसम् | तस्मात् त्वमद्यप्रभृति पुरुषादो भविष्यसि,तपस्याकी प्रबल शक्तिसे सम्पन्न शक्तिमुनिने कहा--“राजाओंमें नीच कल्माषपाद! तू एक तपस्वी ब्राह्मणको राक्षसकी भाँति मार रहा है, इसलिये आजसे नरभक्षी राक्षस हो जायगा तथा अबसे तू मनुष्योंके मांसमें आसक्त होकर इस पृथ्वीपर विचरता रहेगा। नृूपाधम! जा यहाँसे”
haṁsi rākṣasavad yasmād rājāpasada tāpasam | tasmāt tvam adyaprabhṛti puruṣādo bhaviṣyasi ||
„Weil du, o Auswurf unter den Königen, einen Asketen wie ein Rākṣasa erschlägst, sollst du von heute an ein Menschenfresser werden. Fortan, vom Verlangen nach Menschenfleisch getrieben, wirst du über diese Erde umherstreifen. O niedrigster der Herrscher—fort von hier!“

A Gandharva confronts the king (addressed as rājāpasada) for killing an ascetic. As punishment, the Gandharva pronounces a curse that the king will from that day become a puruṣāda (man-eater) and wander the earth driven by craving for human flesh, then orders him to leave.
